Making Care More Connected - Creating a 2D Explainer Animation for Hygge

The Challenge

Hygge, an old age care-tech company focused on supporting families and dependents through technology-led solutions, approached Salamandra UK to create a 60-second 2D explainer animation. Their goal was to communicate a sensitive and complex message clearly which was the real struggles faced by carers and dependents, from daily challenges to feelings of isolation and how Hygge’s flexible, affordable, tech-integrated care solution could make life easier and more connected. The animation needed to speak directly to families and dependents rather than professionals, striking an empathetic tone while showcasing the human impact and technological innovation at the heart of Hygge’s offering. At stake was the ability to build emotional trust with their audience, showing that technology can care as much as people do.

The Solution

Salamandra UK crafted a concise, emotive 2D animation designed to both inform and reassure. The creative approach centred on human storytelling, combining warm visuals with clear messaging to capture Hygge’s mission of making care simple, connected and accessible.

We used a soft colour palette and calm motion language to convey comfort and reassurance, while transitions mirrored the ease and flexibility of Hygge’s service. The voiceover’s measured tone reinforced accessibility, speaking directly to families and dependents in an inclusive, conversational way.

This close collaboration ensured the final animation felt distinctly “Hygge” - a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being - as well as being modern, caring and human.
